Was like watching a band I really liked 25 years ago with none of the original members playing to 11 people in a shit pub

One of my favourite shows at present is 'Dancing like as in the 1980's' which airs every second Friday on Granada (sponsored by ovaltine for northerners).
In it Jimmy Somerville from seminal 80s pop dancing troupe the Rarming Bananas travox dances in utility dungarees like Michael Barrymore on spice drugs.
Co presented by Bruno Brookes with his lolloping head like a warped beach ball full of silly string garlands - its fucking excellent and how i learned my bestest dance moves like i used to do down Raquels whilst trying not to be stabbed by local bad men tings
Alfie...no offence, but what the fuck has that got to do with what i wrote :-) Sounds an excellent premise though, I will give you that!

Watched the first ten minutes this week to see what the fuss was about and switched it off. As a stand alone "comedy" I thought it was bad enough but as a remake of a classic oh dear. Why would any actor take on the part made famous by a legend in Ronnie Barker anyway?! You are on a hiding to nothing.
The only time these things work on British TV are when actors portray legends in a totally different format like a drama on that/those legends lives. For instance I thought David Threlfall was excellent as Tommy Cooper in the ITV drama and Daniel Rigby was outstanding in the The BBC2 drama – Eric & Ernie when he played Eric Morecambe.

This Country is very funny. BBC3's comedy has got better since they went online only; guess they can take more risks now. Ideal was brilliant but that was way back when BBC3 started.

There is still good stuff being made. As mentioned "People just do nothing" is superb and the one with the cousins set in a village(name escapes me) was very funny aswell.

BBC comedy is weird. The tv stuff is patchy but whoever commissions the Radio 4 comedy slot usually gets it spot on. Cabin Pressure is the best sitcom of the last decade bar none.

Him & Her is brilliant and well worth a go. Despite not a lot actually happening, the writer somehow makes it very easy to binge watch. Some great character development plus Joe Wilkinson is fantastic in it. All four series are available on Netflix.

W1A really does need someone to say "for fucks sake shut up" if it wants any hint of realism in it, even if it is in private (this happens a lot in my organisation)

W1A is becoming a bit too repetitive for me.
I appreciate that's kind of the point, but a bit more dialogue now and again over and above "Yes, no, exactly, yes, brilliant, well you see" etc etc would be good.

People Just Do Nothing is excellent, if you were into your pirate radio stations.
Murder in Successville is also very good (and the lead is a West Ham fan).
Both on BBC Three.
